Material Handler - Leamington, ON

JOB TITLE: Forklift Driver
Reports to: Plant Manager & Supervisor
 
JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:Responsibilities include but not limited to, maintain weld, assembly and paint lines with prepped material, remove and empty scrap/garbage bins, organize product inventory in an organized and safe manor, load and unload inbound and outbound trucks, converse with truck drivers to ensure the correct load is being delivered, operate forklift in a safe and professional manor and other duties as required.
           
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Maintain weld, assembly and paint operations by removing stock, supplying stock in-process, good for various production functions (i.e jigs, fixtures, tubing, expanded metal), assist in line set up when jobs switch over
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks
  • Converse with truck drivers, making sure they have the proper documentation for the load they are picking up, if not applicable consult supervisor.
  • Operate forklift in safe and efficient manor
  • Conduct pre-start inspections on forklift prior to start of the shift.

  • Capable of measuring dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measurement devices as required
  • Read work orders to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, dimensions and tolerances, proper labeling of parts, etc., and accurately complete all required functions to ensure only quality product is produced
  • Accurately document/record information: enter, record, store or maintain information in written or electronic form

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Diploma in CNC an asset
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years in CNC/Laser operation experience
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Must be able to navigate in a Windows based computer enviornment
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Understand basic tool functions
  • Hand eye coordination
  • Physically capable of lifting in excess of 40lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have steel toe boots
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work any 3 shifts and overtime when needed
